This infrared thermometer is equipped with dual laser pointers, which allows you to better estimate the target area without guessing with a single laser. And the adjustable emissivity setting allows you to easily read steel and other materials and finishes. Two temperature measurement methods are provided (infrared non-contact and K-type thermocouple probe), the infrared measurement range is -50℃~550℃(-134℉~136℉), and the K-type thermocouple measurement range is -50℃~500℃(-134℉~134℉), making this high temperature laser gun more suitable for use in different situations. And, with a 12:1 distance to light spot ratio, the industrial infrared thermometer allows you to measure small target areas from farther away, which keeps the lens cool when measuring the temperature of hot surfaces. The high-resolution LCD display provides temperature information in less than 300 milliseconds, and the on-screen display function includes temperature, humidity, low battery flag, data hold, NCV detection, high/low alarm and continuous scanning mode, etc. It is everything you need in a professional infrared thermometer.

What does the "not for humam" mean?

It means this thermometer is NOT designed to measure human body temperature.

What does tis 12:1 ratio mean exactly?

The object distance ratio of high-temperature infrared thermometer is 12:1. the diameter of the measurement area is one-twelfth of the distance to the object. A thermometer with a higher ratio of D to S is able to sense a more-specific, narrower surface at a greater distance than one with a lower ratio. A 12:1 rated device can sense a 1-inch circle at a distance of one foot, whereas a 10:1 ratio device achieves the same 1 inch circle at 10 inches, and a wider, less-specific circle of 1.2 inches at a distance of 12 inches. The ideal target area should be at least twice the size of the spot at that distance.

Can I use this thermometer for chocolate tempering?

Yes. The infrared laser thermometer is useful for gauging temperatures of many things from oven temp to the rear cylinder cooling fins of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, so it would likely measure the degrees present in hot chocolate as well.
